Anyone who has stayed at or visited Stouffer Mill B & B, may remember that the centre of the house is an 8′ diameter steel cylinder that serves as the structural hub of our 12 sided circular home. 16′ of the steel cylinder is visible from the first and second floors. It has a field stone fire place which is 10′ high and the remaining 6′ of the cylinder, which is on the B & B guest level, is painted brown. A renowned local artist, Lois Raw, has agree to paint a mural on the 6′ of the cylinder above the field stone. The first stage was to build a platform around the cylinder so as she lays out the scene and begins painting, she can access the complete mural at all times. The scene will be the view of Halls Lake in the fall, from Stouffer Mill. (When the fall colours are at their peak, you will see the spectacular, panoramic view of Halls Lake and then, if you turn around, you will see the same view above the fireplace.) The pictures below were taken November 19th, 2012. Tomorrow, the base ground coat will be applied so Lois can begin her work on the 22nd. When the mural is completed, halogen lights with dimmer control will light up the mural from below and the mural will become the night light when B & B guests are in residence. Visit our blog often and see the progress to the final viewing…..hopefully in a few weeks.
